Barbara Applebaum
Member Development Manager, Midwest Specialist
Positive-Energy Relationship Builder
Barbara brings enthusiasm, humor, and unwavering belief in young people to everything she does at Uncharted Learning. As a Member Development Manager, she focuses on building strong relationships across the Midwest—listening closely to educators and school leaders, understanding what matters to their communities, and helping them expand opportunities for student entrepreneurship. She also adds a fresh perspective to the Member Development team, grounded in her years in schools and her curiosity about what makes each learning environment unique.
Before joining Uncharted Learning, Barbara spent 15 years as an educator and school leader, earning National Board Certification. Having lived the day-to-day realities of school life, she connects with members through genuine empathy and practical understanding. A later-in-life career shift also strengthened her confidence in lifelong learning and in what’s possible when you’re willing to try something new—values that make Uncharted Learning a natural fit.
Outside of work, Barbara is a mom of two, a sprint triathlete, and a proud board member at Tamarack Camps—an organization that shaped her life for decades and now connects generations of her family. She’s currently taking a networking course that’s reshaping how she builds meaningful connections, and she’s re-committed to yoga twice a week to stay grounded and healthy.
Words to Live By
“Laugh a lot. At yourself, at the process, at the outcomes. And with your people. Not only does research prove it’s healthy, but in the long run, there’s nothing that will keep you going more than finding joy (and hilarity) in what you’re doing.”
