My Experience as a High School Entrepreneur

The following post was adapted from Ayden Fowler's Linked In post, found here.

Where my passion became reality

Entering my sophomore year of high school, I had the incredible opportunity to participate in an entrepreneurship development class, INCubatoredu, at Horace Mann High School in North Fond du Lac, WI. This national program gave me the tools and resources to turn my passion for entrepreneurship into a thriving business. Alongside my talented team, I identified a problem with chemicals in household products and set out to create a solution through Commah, LLC.

Throughout the year, we worked tirelessly to build the foundation for what would become a successful and innovative company. Our class was designed to mirror the real-life experience of ABC's "Shark Tank." We constantly pushed ourselves to create a pitch that would impress investors and set us apart from the competition.

The Payoff

Thanks to our hard work and dedication, Commah was chosen as the first-place team at the high school competition, securing our first win. But our success didn't stop there. Outside of class, the initial Commah team pitched at multiple start-up events, winning over $8,000 and gaining national attention.

My passion for entrepreneurship stems from the desire to make a meaningful impact in the lives of others. When I work tirelessly to develop new products or fulfill orders, it's not just about making a profit - it's about creating an exceptional customer experience that exceeds expectations. That's why I believe in putting in the extra time and effort to ensure that everything we do is of the highest quality. And while some may see working 80 hours a week as a burden, I see it as an opportunity to make a real difference and create a lasting legacy in entrepreneurship.

Two years later, what’s changed

Not only have I become a role model within the teenage entrepreneurial community, but I have also been accepted into the prestigious School of Business at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. And the best part? I earned a full-tuition scholarship thanks to my participation in my high school's innovative business program and my commitment to entrepreneurial pursuits. I am excited to continue my education and build upon the skills and knowledge I have gained through my experience as an entrepreneur.

INCubatoredu, not your everyday high school classroom

Uncharted Learning's INCubatoredu high school entrepreneurship program reinforced my love for entrepreneurship. Through this program, I was able to refine my skills, gain valuable insights, and connect with other like-minded individuals in and out of the classroom who shared my passion for business.

Rather than passively sitting at desks and listening to lectures, in INCubatoredu, students are encouraged to think critically, problem-solve, and collaborate with their peers to create their own businesses. This program has effectively transformed the classroom into a dynamic and engaging environment that fosters innovation and entrepreneurship.
